We will be showing the results of this years first competition withe a Open topic.

professional photographer and owner of Spot Studio, will do his presentation on "The Development of a Photographer."

Steve Reeves will be teaching a class on matting and mounting your prints.

Our Field trip will be to the Trinity River Audubon Center,  6500 Great Trinity Forest Way off Loop  12 in Southeast Dallas.   The Trinity River Audubon Center is an urban nature preserve featuring miles of walking trails, ponds, abundant native plants, wildlife and a very interesting Visitor Center.  The center opens at 9:00am and closes at 4:00pm.   There are no restaurants in the vicinity so bring your own lunch.   We'll try to meet at the picnic area next to the visitor center.  There are other picnic areas alongside the Trinity River or on the overlook trail with a  elevated view of the wetland ponds and city of Dallas skyline.  Admission TRAC members: Free Adults (Ages 13-59): $6.00 Children (Ages 3-12): $3.00 Seniors (Ages 60+): $4.00 Children age 2 and under: Free  Hours Saturday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. More info at www.trinityriver.audubon.org

Each year members are encouraged to present their work in themed A-V shows on DCC Potpourri Night. These popular shows are presented at the first meeting in May and allow members to present their images in a story-telling format with sound and effects.

SG Live will be held as part of the pre-meeting training program starting at 6:30 prior to the first meeting each month. Bring your prints and projected images to discuss in a small group led by a master photographer. If you are interested in discussing a specific topic with a master photographer during this time, contact Dennis Fritsche.  If you have recently joined DCC and would like discuss club activities, contact Frank Richards.   Don’t forget that new images for SG Online are also due the day of the first meeting each month.  See Mentoring Study Groups tab below for more info.  

Eleanore Avery’s travel photos of Tibet will be our program for April. She visited there in 2011. Despite the treatment by China, Tibet is still a beautiful country where you can see the majestic Himalayan Mountains. Her presentation will cover the villages, the people, and the magnificent scenery of one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Her lecture will be highly educational for anyone wanting to learn more about travel photography. Our first meeting under the our leadership team. If you are interested in checking out our club or joing, this is a great time to do it.

There is quite a bit you can do to your image with Lightroom. Convert to B&W, increase contrast, exposure adjustment, color temperature, crop, and sharpening and lots more. But there are times when you will need more control over what you are doing. Lightroom just can not clone or do content aware fill. So if you want to know how to remove that tree branch or remove items from your image, you will want to make this class. We will be convering how to use the clone stamp tool and healing brush.

Winners from monthly 2012 – 2013 competitions will be announced and displayed, as well as other competition and service awards. Dinner tickets are $38 each. Purchase tickets at the March 12 meeting or send a check to Adela Rochier. Check must be received by March 26. Make check payable to Dallas Camera Club. Please indicate on your checks your entrée preference (beef, chicken or salmon).

Due to the Jewish holiday, we are not able to gain access to the building so the second meeting of March had to be canceled.

This is the last competition results meeting of the year. If you are partisipating in the END OF YEAR competitions, then you will need to hand in your winning prints and year end competition images. John Hill is not only an accomplished photographer, but one with a long history of involvement in photography club activities. His topic to the DCC: A Checkup from the neck up about Composition.

Houston Brown will be sharing his workflow of images from camera to backup. Although there are probably as many workflows as there are competition topics, this should help you get started in a workflow that is right for you. Houston will be discussing file management, file naming, editing, on site and off site storage. You only need to take away what you find useful .

Kaye will share her personal reflections and enthusiasm about her quest to use photography as creative expression. She will share ways she has kept photography fun and engaging. She will also share the local places she likes to photograph and how she explores these places to develop photographic skills.

Dennis Fritche will be coordinating a live version of the mentoring study groups. Pick out a print or projected image that you would like to discuss with a master photographer and other club members. Details to come.

Dallas Derby Devils Meet Saturday July 14th - 6:30PM Join us on Saturday, July 14th for a Dallas Derby Devils flat-track women's roller derby meet at the Nytex Sports Centre in North Richland Hills, Tx. The Sports Centre will open at 6:30pm and the competition will begin at 7:00pm. The action is hot and heavy and the photographic opportunities are endless. It is an exciting event that is loaded with frenetic activity and lots of interesting people. There are bleacher seats available, but seating is allowed trackside on a first come, first served basis so get there early and bring you own chairs. The interior lighting is not great, so depending on your equipment, flash units may be useful for stop action shots. The tickets cost $15. Food and drink is available on-site. The Nytex Sports Centre is located across the street from Birdville Highschool in North Richland Hills at 8851 Ice House Dr. To get there from Dallas, take either SH 121, SH 114 or SH 183 in to northeast Fort Worth and exit on N. Precinct Line Road and turn right. Go north to Mid-Cities Blvd and turn left. Go west a shot way to Hawk Road and turn left. The complex will be one block south on the right.
